What does this part do?

The brake pad rubs against the brake disc so that the vehicle slows down and stops safely. A pad that has reached its wear limit increases braking distance and can damage the disc; the pads on the same axle should be replaced together. After fitting, it is recommended to bed the pads in during the first kilometres by avoiding sudden, hard braking.
